Rotary Club Makes Generous Donation

On March 4th , 2010 Merion Fire Company of Ardmore Chief Tom Hayden gave a presentation to the Rotary Club of Ardmore. The presentation focused on the history of the Merion Fire Company in Lower Merion Township, the district and people it protects, the firefighters who serve the Company, and the needed safety and firefighting equipment. The presentation looked at the challenges of recruiting, training, retaining and equipping volunteers in the modern fire service and the associated costs. Firefighter John Trainer assisted Chief Hayden by demonstrating the use of personal protective equipment and safety equipment that the company uses. An involved question and answer session followed the presentation, which helped Rotary Club members better understand the workings of the modern fire service.

Chief Hayden was invited back to the Rotary Club the following week, where he was presented with a check for $6000.00 to the Merion fire Company.
The Merion Fire Company thanks the Rotary Club for their continued, unwavering support."
