8th Annual Golf Tournament
On Monday June 28th, 2011 the Merion Fire Co. Of Ardmore held its 8th annual golf Tournament.
Hershey Mills Country Club in West Chester ,PA, provided a beautifully maintained and challenging Golf Course. Over 70 golfers were on hand to compete for various prizes. Several of our firefighters enjoyed the Tournament and their spots were provided by Suburban Square in gratitude for their Volunteer Service. Volunteer Firefighter Ted Powers and Firefighter Dan Gilbert received golf awards. It was great to see our past Treasurer Howard West in Attendance. Along time member of the fire Co, although in his 80’s can still play with the best of them.As before the Dinner was fantastic and received rave reviews from all in attendance. Several non-golfers including Chief Hayden and Deputy Chief Powers joined the group for dinner .

We cannot say enough about the wonderful support of Suburban Square as our lead sponsor. Although the Fire Company is called to the large shopping center multiple time throughout the year, it makes it so much nicer when our Volunteers know it is appreciated. Special thanks to Pat Keenan of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage a long time sponsor and Nachman, Hays & Brownstein. Their support help make this tournament great!

Thank you Golf Committee for another great year! Chairmen Tom Watt, Kevin Murphy, Bonnie Hays, Jim Whelan and all who made this a great day.

First arriving units were met with a strong odor of gasoline in the store located at 25 Coulter Ave. A commercial building response was transmitted and command was established. The stores were evacuated and positive pressure ventilation was started. After investigation it was found that some landscape equipment leaked some flammable liquid into a underground vault connected to the stores in the rear alley. Air monitoring was constantly preformed and oil dry was applied. After good ventilation was established the oil dry was removed from the area.
