2231 North Stone Ridge Lane

On Friday evening July 27, 2012 The Merion Fire Company was dispatched to 2231 North Stone Ridge Lane in the Villanova Section of Lower Merion Township to assist the Bryn Mawr Fire Company at house fire with a report of people possibly trapped. Chief Tom Hayden arrived on location in his personal vehicle and found a well involved kitchen fire with heavy smoke throughout the house and a 102 year old resident trapped in a rear bedroom with other residents trying to facilitate the removal of the resident. Chief Hayden removed the residents from the house and suffered smoke inhalation in the process.
The crew from Ladder 23 arrived and initiated an aggressive interior attack with a hand line while a crew from Engine 25 backed them up and began opening up the walls and ceilings around the kitchen.

Chief Hayden and the residents were transported to the hospital where they were treated for their injuries.
Crews remained on location for approximately an hour and a half.

Ardmore firefighters handled a trash can fire in Ardmore West Shopping sent at 5:15PM.

A trash can fire was handled by firefighters on Coulter Ave in Suburban Square shortly after 2PM.

Ardmore firefighters quickly handled a car on fire shortly after 7:30PM on West Spring Ave and Greenfield.

Brush Fire


Firefighters from Engine 25 extinguished a small brush fire in the 200 block of East Lancaster Ave in Wynnewood.

Car Fire


Merion firefighters handled a car fire at Haverford Station and Montgomery Ave shortly before 11:00PM in the Haverford section.

Oil Spill


Ardmore firefighters were dispatched to the rear alley behind 208 East Lancaster Ave for a report of an oil spill. Firefighters controlled the oil and stopped it from entering the storm sewer. Haz-mat, DEP, and the Fire Marshal were notified. Rescue 21 and Utility 24 were also called to the scene to assist.

Vehicle Fire in Garage


The Merion Fire Company was requested to assist Bryn Mawr with a working vehicle fire in the parking garage at the Bryn Mawr Hospital shortly after 8:00AM. The fire was quickly controlled by firefighters.
