IN MEMORY OF FIREFIGHTER BECK

Members of the PennWynne/Overbrook Hills Fire Company gathered in front of the Merion Fire Company of Ardmore station to recognize and honor Harold F. Beck Jr. on the 25th Anniversary of his line of duty death. The members of Station 21 gathered on Greenfield Avenue for a short tribute to his memory by recalling stories about Harold and the Kiddie City Fire, reciting the Firefighter's Prayer and Striking the Four Fives, an FDNY tradition of sounding bells on the passing of a firefighter.

Firefighter Beck suffered a heart attack while working at the fire at the Kiddie City Store, which was located directly across from the fire house where the shopping center is now located. The building was one of the original Autocar truck buildings.
