Porch Fire Assist

At 4:30PM Engine 25-1 responded to Merion & Winding Way in Bala to assist as the FAST Team at a porch fire.

Basement Fire

Engine and Ladder 25 handled a fire in the basement at a house on Sutton Road in Ardmore at 7:30 PM. Narberth Fire Company was called to assist. There were no injuries.

Wires Down / Shed Fire

The Merion Fire Company assisted Penn Wynne with wires down and a working shed fire behind 510 East Spring Ave at 7:10PM. Engine 25 dropped a 5" line on County Line Road and led off with a 1 3/4" line behind the houses south of the fire.

Companies were in service for over two hours.

Vehicle Rescue

At 5:53 hours The Merion Fire Company of Ardmore was dispatched to East Spring Ave at Walnut Ave for a tree that fell on an occupied car. Arriving firefighters had one male victim trapped in a vehicle with a tree on it.

Firefighters went into service with cribbing, chain saws and the jaws of life from the Penn Wynne Fire Company to remove the injured person. Narberth ambulance transported the victim to the hospital. Belmont Hills rescue also assisted.

Smokey Pot of Meat

Merion Firefighters handled a smokey pot of meat on the 3rd floor at 113 Cricket Ave in Ardmore at 10:47 PM.

Hazardous Materials Incident

The Merion Fire Company handled a Hazardous Materials Incident at a restaurant in the Suburban Square Shopping Center. Workers mixed some cleaning chemicals that emitted a hazardous gas.

Members of Ardmore, Bryn Mawr, Gladwyne Fire Companies and Narberth Ambulance gave aid to 5 employees. Firefighters also searched the restaurant to make sure everyone was out. The restaurant was monitored and ventilated.

5 victims were transported to the hospital. Firefighters went through a decontamination process.

Chamber of Commerce Scholarships

On Thursday night, June 11th , volunteer firefighters/emergency medical technicians who are attending college were awarded scholarships by the Main Line Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Forty-Two thousand dollars in scholarships were awarded, with two firefighter/EMTs receiving $2500.00 scholarships in the Memory of Ardmore Firefighter Tom Hayes.

Thank You to to the Main Line Chamber of Commerce Foundation for their continued support of the volunteer Fire Service on the Main Line.

Auto Accident

At 10:52 this morning the Merion Fire Company of Ardmore assisted at an auto accident at Glenn and Montgomery.
The injured were transported to the hospital by Narberth Ambulance.

Shortly after 9 AM the Merion Fire Company handled a light fixture smoking at the Lower Merion Public Safety building

Struck Gas Line

Engine and Ladder 25 handled a struck gas line at 28 Simpson Road shortly before 1:00PM.
PECO controlled the incident with in 15 minutes.

Paddy Black

Firefighter Paddy Black, a senior at Lower Merion High School, focused his Senior Project on his volunteer firefighting at the Merion Fire Company. Today he presented his project to his classmates, teachers, family, and fellow firefighters.

Paddy will attend Ole Miss in the fall. Congratulations to Paddy for a fine presentation and his upcoming graduation!

Water Rescue

At 6:02 PM the Ardmore and Gladwyne Fire Companies responded to assist a female that was trapped on the roof of her vehicle on Old Gulph at Williamson road in the Haveford section. Members of the Gladwyne water rescue team entered the water and safely removed the victim.
