130 Simpson Road

At 16:11 hours Stations 25 (Ardmore) and 23 (Bryn Mawr) were dispatched to the 130 Simpson Road for a dwelling fire. Lower Merion police arrived and reported smoke showing, which prompted the LM working fire dispatch. Chief 25 assumed command and reported a fire in the second floor bedroom of a three story twin.

Engine 25 stretched a line to the second floor and made quick work of the fire. Ladder 25 & 23 crews laddered the building, completed a primary search, and ventilated. Engine 23's crew stretched a second line to the third floor to check for extension. All searches were negative and there were no injuries to any  residents or firefighters. Great job and teamwork by all Lower Merion firefighters on an extremely hot summer afternoon!

Large Brush Fires

At 16:19 hours Ardmore firefighters were dispatched to the rear of the 300 block of Lancaster Avenue for a brush fire. Deputy 25 arrived first and found two large brush fires along the train tracks on the Hathaway Lane side of the train tracks.

While operating at the initial incident on Hathaway lane, County notified command of an additional brush fire on the tracks to the rear of 100 West Montgomery Avenue. Additional units were called from Narberth, Bryn Mawr, Gladwyne, Penn Wynne, and Union fire companies.

We would also like to thank Oakmont and Swedeland fire companies for covering the west end of the township. Crews were in service for about two hours.
