December 8, 2006 – LODD

Firefighter Thomas Joseph Hays, 25

Lower Merion Fire Department / Narberth Fire Company. Ardmore, Pennsylvania

Firefighter Hays responded to a commercial structure fire at 2030hrs on December 7, 2006. Firefighter Hays helped open up the walls of the structure to provide access for firefighters. The incident was concluded by approximately 2200hrs and Firefighter Hays returned to his home. Concerned that he did not respond to fire incidents that occurred over the early morning hours of December 8, 2006, firefighters went to Firefighter Hays’ home to check on his welfare. They discovered Firefighter Hays deceased in his bed. The death was attributed to epilepsy.

While Tom was running with Narberth that fateful night, he was an Ardmore guy through and through. His service and love for the Merion Fire Company will never be forgotten.

He is truly missed.
