7/23/26 0444 Elevator Rescue

07.23.2026 by Graham Fuller //

7/23/2026 | 0444 Hours – Station 25 responded to St. James Place in Suburban Square for a report of a person trapped in an elevator.

What initially sounded like a routine elevator rescue quickly became a complex operation. Because of the early morning hour, firefighters first had to gain access to a locked professional building, determine which elevator was out of service and on what floor it was stopped, access the rooftop elevator control room, and gain entry to a secured second floor before rescue operations could begin.

Thanks to the training and experience of our volunteers, crews were able to work through each of these challenges, safely access the elevator, and successfully extricate the occupant.

Incidents like this are a great reminder that emergency calls are often far more complex than they first appear. Regular training prepares our members to solve problems, adapt to changing conditions, and safely assist those in need—no matter the obstacles.

7/20/26 1900 Drill Night

07.21.2026 by Graham Fuller //

7/20/2026 | 1900 Hours – Training never stops at Station 25!

More than 20 members of the Merion Fire Company participated in live fire training Monday evening at the Lower Merion Burn Tower. Firefighters trained in realistic fireground scenarios, sharpening their skills in fire attack, search, teamwork, and decision-making in a controlled environment.

Back at the station, four additional members spent the evening participating in driver/operator training, building the knowledge and experience needed to safely operate our apparatus during emergency responses.

Whether it’s inside the burn building or behind the wheel of a fire apparatus, every training opportunity helps prepare our volunteers to provide the highest level of service to the residents and visitors of Ardmore and Lower Merion Township.

7/6/26 1900 Drill at the College Arms Apartments

07.08.2026 by Graham Fuller //

7/6/2026 | 1900 Hours – This week’s training took Station 25 to the former College Arms Apartments on Montgomery Ave., where our firefighters had the opportunity to train in a real-world environment.

Training in an actual structure provides invaluable experience that simply can’t be replicated in a classroom. Crews worked through realistic fireground scenarios, allowing them to sharpen their skills, improve teamwork, and prepare for the emergencies they may face in our community.

A sincere thank you to the property’s new owners and Lower Merion Township for making this outstanding training opportunity possible. Partnerships like these help ensure our firefighters are prepared to provide the highest level of service to the residents and visitors of Ardmore and Lower Merion Township.
