8/4/2026 1800 National Night Out

08.05.2026 by Graham Fuller //

8/4/2026 | 1800 Hours – The Merion Fire Company of Ardmore had a fantastic time at National Night Out in Suburban Square! 🚒🎉

Our members brought Ladder 25 and the Command Vehicle to the event, giving visitors an up-close look at the apparatus we use to protect our community. Guests had the opportunity to tour the ladder truck, explore its compartments, ask plenty of great questions, and even watch a few of our members climb the aerial ladder!

It was a wonderful evening spent connecting with residents, meeting new friends, and sharing what it means to serve as volunteer firefighters in Lower Merion Township.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit us. We truly enjoyed meeting you and appreciate your continued support. We can’t wait to see you again next year!

7/31/26 1506 Transformer Fire

07.31.2026 by Graham Fuller //

7/31/2026 | 1506 Hours – Station 25 responded to Booth Lane in Haverford for a report of a utility pole transformer on fire that was dropping burning debris to the ground.

Chief 25, Engine 25, and Engine 25-1 arrived and secured the area to protect the public from the energized equipment and falling debris while awaiting the arrival of PECO. Once the utility company arrived, the scene was stabilized, turned over to PECO for further investigation and repairs, and the company returned to service.

Utility incidents involving downed wires or damaged transformers can be extremely dangerous. If you encounter sparking electrical equipment or downed power lines, stay well away from the area and immediately notify 911. Always assume electrical equipment is energized until the utility company confirms otherwise.

7/29/26 0046 Vehicle Accident

07.29.2026 by Graham Fuller //

7/29/2026 | 0046 Hours – Station 25 responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Lancaster Avenue and Ardmore Avenue.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a vehicle that had struck a utility pole and a tree before coming to rest in the front window of a nearby restaurant. Crews quickly secured the scene, eliminated potential hazards, and brought the incident under control.

Incidents like this serve as an important reminder to always drive attentively, obey posted speed limits, and wear your seat belt—especially during late-night and early-morning hours.
