7/31/2026 | 1506 Hours – Station 25 responded to Booth Lane in Haverford for a report of a utility pole transformer on fire that was dropping burning debris to the ground.
Chief 25, Engine 25, and Engine 25-1 arrived and secured the area to protect the public from the energized equipment and falling debris while awaiting the arrival of PECO. Once the utility company arrived, the scene was stabilized, turned over to PECO for further investigation and repairs, and the company returned to service.
Utility incidents involving downed wires or damaged transformers can be extremely dangerous. If you encounter sparking electrical equipment or downed power lines, stay well away from the area and immediately notify 911. Always assume electrical equipment is energized until the utility company confirms otherwise.
